Medical Malpractice

Surgical errors, misdiagnosis, birth injury — we make the medicine understandable and the negligence impossible to ignore.

Our Experience

Where Medical Precision Meets Courtroom Persuasion

Medical malpractice is among the most technically demanding litigation there is. Juries are asked to evaluate surgical decisions, assess standards of care, and understand complex anatomical injuries — often in a matter of days. Legal-eze bridges that gap with scientifically accurate, beautifully rendered medical illustrations and exhibits built specifically for the courtroom.

We work directly with your medical experts to ensure every illustration is anatomically precise, properly sourced, and aligned with the opinion being offered. Whether you need a surgical sequence showing what went wrong, a comparison of healthy versus damaged anatomy, or a timeline of a patient's deteriorating condition, we build it to withstand scrutiny and move a jury.

With more than three decades of medical malpractice experience, our team understands how to present complex medicine in a way that is clear, compelling, and — most importantly — accurate.

Case Crohan v. University Community Hospital, Inc., et al.
Court Florida 13th Circuit, Hillsborough County
Plaintiff Counsel Trentalange & Kelley (Michael Trentalange)
Legal-eze Baron Philipson

Miranda Crohan, who suffered from diabetes insipidus — a rare condition causing fluid and electrolyte imbalances — was found unresponsive by a roommate and rushed to a Tampa-area hospital. What followed was a cascade of medical failures: physicians overcorrected her severely low blood sodium, then allowed it to see-saw, directly causing profound, irreversible brain damage requiring lifelong care.

The defense argued her injuries stemmed from autoimmune encephalitis — an existing condition — not physician error. Plaintiff's counsel countered with a precise timeline demonstrating that the overcorrection of sodium levels, not the underlying disease, destroyed her brain function. Expert testimony and the medical record told the story of what happened in those critical hours and days.

After 14 days of trial and six hours of deliberation, the jury returned a verdict of more than $68.6 million — including $50 million for pain and suffering and $17+ million for lifetime medical expenses.

Pain & Suffering $50,000,000
Medical Expenses $17,000,000+

This case required the jury to understand a complex chain of physiological events — and to hold four physicians accountable for specific failures within that chain. Legal-eze supported the Trentalange & Kelley trial team with:

  • Medical Illustrations — anatomically precise visuals depicting hyponatremia, its effects on the brain, and the mechanism of osmotic demyelination syndrome caused by overcorrection of sodium levels
  • Trial Exhibits — custom demonstratives translating the critical care timeline into a clear, chronological narrative the jury could follow across 14 days of testimony
  • Trial Presentation — real-time hot-seat operation throughout the trial, managing exhibits, deposition clips, and medical records for seamless courtroom delivery
  • Courtroom Setup — full A/V configuration and technical infrastructure to support a high-stakes, multi-week medical malpractice trial
